Manchester United would still be prepared to pay a world record fee for
Gareth Bale.
That United are still open to signing the 25-year-old is hardly a
secret and, with Ed Woodward under pressure not to repeat the mistakes of
Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer with the probable David de Gea deal, it could be
third time lucky for United.
Southampton sold Bale to Tottenham instead of United in 2007 and the
Welshman preferred a move to Real Madrid in 2013.
Although Bale has publicly insisted he wants to stay at the Bernabeu,
it is believed he would be open to a return to England this summer.
United have reportedly agreed a £13m fee with Hoffenheim for the
signing of 23-year-old Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino.
Firmino scored Brazil's winner against Honduras on Wednesday night and
could play a key role in their Copa America campaign.
